Executive Assistant Decision Making
What is your number one tip for decision making and negotiation in respect to complex diary management?
My number one tip is to know the business and understand the priorities of the business and therefore your exec. That will help you make decisions because you will be aware of what is urgent and what can wait. Which meetings are truly urgent and which ones are not.
It’s also a good idea to understand the hierarchy of the participants, which you will if you have a good understanding of the business.
While we should always do our best to accommodate everyone’s preferences, this isn’t always possible when we’re factoring in multiple busy people across a range of timezones. If you’re lucky, the other participants in the meeting will also have brilliant EAs who are happy to jump on a call with you to get the schedules aligned.
Keep your fellow EAs close.
